  General Notes:

"Haddingtonshire— No. 371. 1st Feb. 1692.—
Helen Lauder, daughter of Robert Lauder of Gunsgreen, wife of James Lauder of Haddington, &c, &c, to certain property in Haddington.

from " Inquisitiones Speciales." Edin., 1811 in Family of Lauder
"Robert Lauder of Gunsgreene was Bailie of Tyninghame in 1641, and Mr. Robert Lauder, who was notary public, was always styled ' portionar of Tyninghame,' from his charter of certain acres in the Lordship of Tyninghame received from Mr. George Lauder of Bass. He was uncle to Mr. John Lauder the minister, and his brothers, Robert, George, and Alexander, so frequently
mentioned in the records. From the names of Patrick Hepburn of Smeaton, George Hepburn, son of Sir Robert Hepburn of Aderstone, Alexander Lauder and William Lauder, in Dunbar, who were witnesses at the baptism of this Mr. Robert Lauder's son George, it is evident that he was on friendly terms with his relatives in the district. We find him also appearing at all public meetings and Church convenings on behalf of Lady Bass and her son, Mr. George Lauder..."

from The Grange of St Giles 1 3
