   Cause of his death was arterial sclerosis and dilatation of the heart/pulmonary embolism.6

  General Notes:

James Tweedie was born in Castle Douglas in 1855. His birth certificate was the 'big' one from the first year of statutory registration in Scotland and gave background information about his parents. the father of the child, William Tweedie, was the informant of his son's birth.

James Tweedie was recorded by the 1861 census living in Castle Douglas Kirkcudbright with his parents and siblings. He was 5 years old and had been born in Kelton parish. He was a 'sawyer's son'.

James Tweedie, William Tweedie's son who had been present where the death occurred, gave notice of his father's death before the registrar at Castle Douglas on 17 February 1897.

When James Tweedie died in 1918 his death certificate recorded him as a "Shoemaker and Clogger married to Jane Hume", and as 62 years of age. His parents were deceased. 3 6 7 9

  Medical Notes:

James McMurray, nephew of the deceased who was present where the death occurred, gave notice of James Tweedie's death before the registrar at Castle Douglas on 1 June 1918. His address was noted as 218 King Street, Castle Douglas. 6


James married Jane HUME in 1887 in Rerrick parish, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland.1 (Jane HUME was born about 1860 and died after 1 June 1918.)
