Jannet Tweedlie was recorded by the 1841 census living in Newtown, Wigtownshire, with her husband and seven children. She was in the 45-49 years age group. She had been born in Scotland but not in Wigtownshire. ⁷

Janet married John TWEEDLIE Joiner and Sawyer, son of William QUIGLY Sawyer and Mary McVAE, on 12 November 1819 in Kells Parish, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland.^{1 2} (John TWEEDLIE Joiner and Sawyer was born about 1793 in Scotland, but not Wigtownshire ⁷ and died 20 November 1863 at 6.10 pm in Castle Douglas, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland ⁸.). The cause of his death was chronic bronchitis over two months.
