VARIANT SURNAMES

Andrew's father's surname first appeared in a marriage document as Tweedlie in 1819, but he was also Quigley in the baptism document of one of his children, Agnes, in 1827. Andrew started off as Tweedlie too. However, in the births of his children in Kirkcudbrightshire Scotland, the surname was recorded as Tweedie, an assimilation to the Scots traditional surname Tweedie. That then was the surname under which Andrew's death in 1888 was recorded.

  Medical Notes:

Alex McKean MB CM certified the cause of death.

John Tweedie, of Free Church Buildings, King Street, Castle Douglas, son of the deceased man, gave notice of his father's death before the registrar at Buchan on 12 July 1888. 3

Andrew married Sarah BURNS. (Sarah BURNS was born about 1831 in Kelton Parish, Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland 2 and died before 12 July 1888 3.)
