Elleanor's father Alexr. Nisbet gave notice of her birth in 1869. He was an iron moulder by occupation.

The 1871 census for Edinburgh St Giles recorded Eleanor as 1 year old, the youngest of her family at the time, living at 1 Milne Square. She had been born in Edinburgh.

Elenor Nisbet was recorded as aged 11 by the 1881 census for Edinburgh. She had been born in St Cuthbert's parish there and lived at 5 Brown Street in her parents' home. She was at school.

In 1891 the census recorded Eleanor McKeen living with her husband and her six brothers and sisters at 5 Brown Street, Edinburgh, formerly her parents' home. No outside occupation was noted for her, so in all likelihood, she was the materfamilias. She was recorded as 21 years old and had been born in Edinburgh.

By 1901, the census was able to record that Henry and Eleanor McKeen had five children, aged from 3 months to 9 years. They had moved house from Brown Street to Braid Place, a couple of miles away. Eleanor was recorded as 30 years old and born in Edinburgh. No outside occupation was noted for her.

Eleanor McKeen died in 1921 at the recorded age of 42 years. She was recorded in her death certificate as the widow of Henry McKeen, potato merchant. Her parents were both recorded as deceased, but were misnamed as Henry Nisbet and Mary Nisbet MS Tait. 2 3 4
