   Cause of his death was compound fracture of the skull.

  General Notes:

Michael was a child of 5 years of age when the 1881 census was taken, the second youngest of his family. He had been born in Airdrie.

In 1915 when Michael died, he and his wife lived at Turner's buildings, Carnbroe, Bellshill, Lanarkshire. He was a coal miner.

Michael was a coal miner, and was dead by 1946, according to his son's marriage certificate of 1946. 2 3

  Medical Notes:

The Register of Corrected Entries stated that Michael, aged 39, was fatally struck about 8 pm by a passing engine and tender, about 200 yards south from Whifflet junction signal cabin, opposite Meadow Park.

G. J. Drummond MB ChB certified the cause of death.

Alex D. Lindsay, procurator fiscal, certified the above facts as a result of a precognition touching Michael's death.

John McGlone, Michael's brother in law, notified the death to the registrar.

The death was registered at Coatbridge on April 30 1915, Gregor Grant being registrar. 6


Michael married Elizabeth McGLONE, daughter of Joseph McGLONE and Mary MANN, on 4 January 1905 in St Mary's RC Church, Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Elizabeth McGLONE was born 21 December 1879 at 1.30 pm in Chapel Buildings, Whifflet, Lanarkshire, Scotland 1 7 and died after 23 April 1946.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest was Father Patrick Hackett. The witnesses were John McGlone and Agnes Keogh.

Michael Vallely was an unmarried man of 28 years of age who worked as a coal miner. He lived at Old Square, Calderbank.

Elizabeth McGlone was a school teacher who lived at Brewster Court, Carnbroe, Calderbank. She was 25 years old and was single.

The marriage was registered at Coatbridge on 6 January 1905, James Grant being the signing registrar. 1
