  General Notes:

In the 1861 census for (Milton of) Dunipace in Stirlingshire, two men surnamed Vallely were recorded living in Stirling Street at the household of Michael Flanagan, a tailor. They were Dennis, aged 45 years , and Thomas aged 20 years. Both were unmarried, both were Irish born, and both were ironstone miners. Dennis was categorised as a visitor, Thomas as a lodger. He may have been this Thomas Vallely.

In the birth certificates of his twin sons born in 1864, Thomas Vallely was recorded as an ironstone miner.

Thomas and his family were recorded by the 1881 census living at Stone Row, Bothwell parish, Lanarkshire. Thomas was a coal miner who had been born in Ireland. His wife and five children had been born in Lanarkshire. His age was noted as 39 years.

The 1891 UK census recorded Thomas and Agnes Vallely and five of their children living at Faskine Brick Row, near Calderbank in Lanarkshire. Thomas was a coal miner.

The census of 1901 recorded Thomas and Agnes Vallely and three of their children living at 1, Gardiners Land, in Coatbridge in Old Monkland parish, Lanarkshire. Thomas was a hewer in a coal mine.

In 1905 Thomas Vallely was recorded in the marriage certificate of his son Michael as a steel work labourer.

Thomas was a general labourer. He was recorded in his death certificate as aged 61 years when he died in 1906. 4 5 6 7 8 9 10

Thomas married Agnes O'BRIEN, daughter of Michael O'BRIEN and Mary McCULLOCH, on 8 June 1863 in St Joseph's Chapel, North Woodside Road, Glasgow, Scotland.1 (Agnes O'BRIEN was born on 19 March 1841 in Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland 11 12 13, baptised on 18 April 1841 in St Margaret's RC Church, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland 11 and died after 19 March 1916 14.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated according to the forms and rites of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest was Henry Thomson RCC. The witnesses were Michael O'Brien and Jane Buchanan.

Thomas Vallely was an ironstone miner, aged 21 years. He was unmarried and lived at 8 Fleming Street Glasgow. Both of his parents were deceased.

Agnes O'Brian was a steam loom weaver also aged 21 years, and of the same address. She made her X mark. Her father was deceased.

The marriage was registered on 8 June 1863 at Glasgow, Samuel Sloan being the registrar. 1 15
