  General Notes:

Agnes was baptised by Fr Daniel Gallagher and her sponsors were John McCann and Cathrine McLaughlin.

Agnes was the youngest child in her family recorded by the 1841 census living at Rawyards, Airdrie. Her age was noted as 3 months. Her birthplace was recorded as Lanarkshire. Since the census was taken on 7 June 1841, Agnes would have been born in February or March of that year if the noted age was correct.

The 1851 census for New Monkland, Lanarkshire recorded Agnes Obrien living at Mill Row with her mother and 6 brothers and sisters. She was recorded as age 10 years and had been born in New Monkland parish.

In 1861 the census for Airdrie recorded Agnes Obrien living with her family at 3 Mill Road. She was recorded as a cotton weaver of 19 years of age and had been born in Airdrie.

The 1881 census recorded the family of Thomas and Agnes Vallely living in Bothwell parish at Stone Row. Agnes was recorded as aged 39 and her birthplace as Airdrie. 4 5 6 8


Agnes married Thomas VALLELY, son of Thomas VALLELY and Mary CORRIGAN, on 8 June 1863 in St Joseph's Chapel, North Woodside Road, Glasgow, Scotland.1 (Thomas VALLELY was born about 1842 in Ireland 12 and died 2 December 1906 at 8.00 am in 31 Old Square, Calderbank, Lanarkshire, Scotland 13.). The cause of his death was aortic regurgitation.


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated according to the forms and rites of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest was Henry Thomson RCC. The witnesses were Michael O'Brien and Jane Buchanan.

Thomas Vallely was an ironstone miner, aged 21 years. He was unmarried and lived at 8 Fleming Street Glasgow. Both of his parents were deceased.

Agnes O'Brian was a steam loom weaver also aged 21 years, and of the same address. She made her X mark. Her father was deceased.

The marriage was registered on 8 June 1863 at Glasgow, Samuel Sloan being the registrar. 1 14
