Margaret McFarlane was recorded by the 1911 census living near Newhouse in Lanarkshire. She was aged 34 years, according to the census, had been born in Shotts parish, and had been married for fifteen years. She had had two children born alive, of whom one was living. her daughter Annie, recorded in the same entry, was adopted. 4


Margaret married Richard McFARLANE, son of Richard McFARLANE and Mary DICKSON, on 22 September 1895 in Chapelhall, Holytown district, Bothwell parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Richard McFARLANE was born on 27 August 1871 in Bothwell parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland 1 3 4.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the forms of the Roman Catholic Church, John Macdonald being the celebrant. The witnesses were Hugh Trainer and Maggie McGunigal.

Richard McFarlane was a 22 year old unmarried man who worked as a coal miner. His adddress was noted as Farries Land, Legbrannock. His father, alos Richard, was deceased.

Maggie Rourke was 19 years old and single. She lived at Dandy Row, Newarthill, and worked in the brickfield.

The marriage was registered on 25 September 1895 at Holytown. 1
