   Cause of her death was general debility with inflammatory action of bowels over about 3 weeks.¹

   Other names for Unity were HENDRIE, Unity ² and HENRY, Unity.¹

  General Notes:

The 1851 census for Lesmahagow recorded Unity Henry living in Turfholm Street with her five children and two grandsons. She was a widow and recorded as 51 years old. Her birthplace was Ireland and her occupation a ---laundress. Unity's two grandsons were James Henry and James Redfern, both aged 2 years. The first was born in Lanark, the second in Lesmahagow.

The 1861 census for Lesmahagow recorded Unity Hendrie living at Kirkfieldbank.She was living in the household of her daughter Margaret and son in law Peter Weir. With them also lived James Hendrie. Aged 8 years and born in Lesmahagow, he was recorded as the nephew of the head of the household. Unity was recorded as 66 years of age and a widow. Her birthplace was Ireland. She worked as a cotton wynder [sic].

Unity Henry died in 1873. Her death certificate recorded her as the widow of James Henry, butler, and as 75 years of age. Both of her parents were deceased. ^{1 2 3}

Mary Henry, daughter of the deceased who was present, gave notice of her mother's death before Duncan Campbell, registrar, at Lesmahagow on 24 April 1873. ¹
