  General Notes:

The 1851 census for Lesmahagow recorded John Henry, eldest son of the head of the household Unity Henry, his mother. The family lived at Turfholm Street. James was married and recorded as 27 years of age. He was a cotton handloom weaver by occupation. His birthplace was Ireland. A small 2 year old grandson of Unity's called James Henry also lived in the household and may be the son of this James Henry, but the census return does not say that. ²

John married Mary TAYLOR on 29 June 1844 in Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.¹ (Mary TAYLOR was born about 1825.)
