In 1851 the census for Skene Parish, Aberdeenshire, recorded Catherine Strachan living at Garlogie Wool Mill with her family and two visitors. Ann was recorded as 3 years of age and her birthplace as Skene Parish, Aberdeenshire.

The 1881 census for the parish of Skene in Aberdeenshire recorded Catherine Webster living at no 6 Garlogie Mill Cottage, with her parents, and her son, George Webster. Catherine Webster was recorded as 32 years of age and had been born in the parish of Skene in Aberdeenshire.

In 1891 James Strachan was head of a small household living at 7 Orchard Place in the parish of Old Machar, Aberdeen. The census of that year recorded James living with his daughter, Catherine Webster, and his grandson, George Webster. Catherine Webster was recorded as a housekeeper by occupation. She was 43 years of age according to the entry, and had been born in Skene parish. 2

The marriage took place after banns according to the forms of the Free Church of Scotland. J. M. Mackintosh, Free Church Minister of Skene, officiated. Alex. Stark and J. W. Strachan were the witnesses.

John Webster was a master wright. He resided at Brewthin, Echt, and was single. He was 34 years old. His father, George, was deceased.

Catherine Strachan was a dressmaker. She was unmarried and 22 years of age. She lived in Garlogie, Skene.

The marriage was registered at Skene on 31 January 1870. 3
