  General Notes:

No baptismal record has been found for Ann McKenzie.

In 1851 James Strachan was living in Greyfriars parish, Aberdeen, with his daughter Ann, at 61 West North Street. James was recorded as 64 years of age and Ann as 26 years. In this census entry James was recorded as a widower. We can conclude then that his wife, Ann, was dead by then. She may have been dead before the 1841 census was taken, because James was a boarder with another family then, but the census entry does not record his marriage status.

James Strachan, a carpenter, was recorded as the widower of Ann McKenzie, in his death certificate of 2 October 1874, in Strathdon Parish. 2 4

  Research Notes:

PARISH REGISTER

The baptismal records extant for the parish of Glenbucket are irregular for the latter part of the eighteenth century for baptisms and marriages. John McKenzie's and Ann McKenzie's baptisms have not been found, nor has the marriage between Ann and James Strachan.

Ann married James STRACHEN 'Drumnagarrow', son of James STRACHEN and Jean THOM, before 9 January 1805.1 (James STRACHEN 'Drumnagarrow' was baptised on 4 September 1783 in Glenbucket parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland 3 and died 2 October 1874 at 9.00 am in Ballachylach, Strathdon Parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.). The cause of his death was Infirmities of age.

  Marriage Notes:

No marriage record has been found for this couple in parish registers. However, Ann McKenzie was recorded as the spouse of James Strachen in the parish registers of Glenbucket when their daughter Mary was baptised:

"9 January 1805
Said day James Strachen in Drumnagarie & Ann McKenzie his spouse had a daughter baptised called Mary before witnesses"
