Margaret Cavanagh was baptised in October 1863 by Father Michael O'Keeffe. John Love and Mary Murphy were her baptismal sponsors.

In 1879 a Margaret Cavanagh was a witness at the marriage of Thomas Cavanagh, probably her brother.

The 1881 census for Blantyre recorded Margaret as 17 years old. ^{1 2}
