He gave notice of the birth on 30 September 1861 before William Duff, registrar, at Auchtergaven, Perthshire and made his X mark. John's occupation was recorded as field labourer. John married Helen McALLISTER, daughter of Neil McALLISTER and Elizabeth STEWART, on 9 August 1861 in St Alphonsus RC Chapel, Calton, Glasgow, Scotland.1 2 (Helen McALLISTER was born in 1840 2 3 and died 11 January 1874 at 3.11 pm in Abbey Green, Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire, Scotland 8.). The cause of her death was enteritis over 14 days. Marriage Notes: The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The celebrant was Jeremiah Buckley, and the witnesses were Ann Brannon and Mary Newlands. |
