   Cause of her death was phtisis pulmonalis of 4 months duration.

   Other names for Agnes were McKELVIE, Agnes 7 8 and QUIGLY, Agnes.

  General Notes:

Agnes' birth was reported by her father Michael who made his X mark before James C. Hutchison, registrar, at Galston on 30 September 1868.

In 1871 the census recorded Agnes as an infant of 2 years of age, living with her family in Iron Work Square, Galston.

In 1891 the census for Loudoun parish Ayrshire recorded Agnes McKelvie, her husband Samuel, a lace weaver, and their two children James, aged 2 years and Annie, aged 6 months, living at 11 Doitburn Street. Both adults were 22 years old.

Agnes' husband Samuel survived her at her death in 1903. She was 34 years. By then her father Michael was also dead, but her mother Annie was still living. 7 10

Agnes' husband Samuel, who was present where the death occurred, signed the death notice at Newmilns on 13 July 1903.


Agnes married Samuel McKELVIE, son of James Allan McKELVIE and Janet YOUNG, on 12 July 1888 in Chapel Lane, Galston, Ayrshire, Scotland.1 (Samuel McKELVIE was born on 17 October 1868 in Newmilns, Loudoun parish, Ayrshire, Scotland 7 8 11 and died after 12 June 1903.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was conducted according to the forms of the Church of Scotland, the minister being James Allan Hogg. The witnesses were John Young and Catherine Quigley. The registrar who recorded the marriage James C. Hutchison.

Agnes Quigley, the bride, was aged 20 years and a cotton winder. This was her first marriage and she gave her address as Chapel Lane Galston. The witness Catherine Quigley was probably her sister of that name.

The groom Samuel McKelvie was aged 21 years, of Main Street Newmilns, Loudon parish. He was a Lace Weaver, and had never been married before. His father was deceased. John Young may have been a cousin on his mother's side, whose maiden name was Young.
