On 30 October 1844 John McArdle and Alive Cavenagh were sponsors at the baptism of Agnes, lawful daughter of Michael Malone and Catherine Thomson, in St Margaret's RC Chapel, Airdrie. Agnes was born on 9 May 1844. Father Alex Smith was the priest who baptised Agnes.

In the 1851 census, Alice was recorded as a widow, aged 22 years, living with her daughter and her own family at 4 Upper Row, Carnbroe Ironworks village. 2 3


Alice married John McARDLE on 19 May 1845 in St Margaret's RC Church, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (John McARDLE was born about 1825 and died in 1845-1851.)


  Marriage Notes:

Father Alex Smith married this couple, and James McDonnough and Sarah Cavenagh were witnesses. Carnebroe was noted as where the couple were residing.

The banns had been called in Bothwell Parish in April. 1
