On 30 October 1844 John McArdle and Alive Cavenagh were sponsors at the baptism of Agnes, lawful daughter of Michael Malone and Catherine Thomson, in St Margaret's RC Chapel, Airdrie. Agnes was born on 9 May 1844. Father Alex Smith was the priest who baptised Agnes. ²

John married Alice CAVANAGH, daughter of Michael CAVANAGH and Mary CAMPBELL, on 19 May 1845 in St Margaret's RC Church, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland.¹ (Alice CAVANAGH was born about 1829 in Ireland ³.)

Father Alex Smith married this couple, and James McDonnough and Sarah Cavenagh were witnesses. Carnebroe was noted as where the couple were residing.

The banns had been called in Bothwell Parish in April. ¹
