Ellen McInairney was recorded by the 1871 census living with her husband and small daughter, Catherine, in Gartsherrie, Old Monkland Parish, the parish where Ellen had been born. She was 22 years old and worked as a cotton mill girl.

On 29 May 1872 Ellen Mann was the baptismal sponsor at the baptism of John Cavanagh, son of James Cavanagh and Catherine McAnerney, in St Patrick's parish Coatbridge.

The 1881 census recorded Helen McEnarney living at 6 Hall Street Blantyre with her husband and two children. She was recorded as 31 years old and had been born in Old Monkland parish.

In 1891 Ellen McNarney was recorded by the census, living with her family at 50 Hall Street Blantyre. Her recorded age was 40 years and she had been born in Old Monkland Parish.

The 1901 census for Blantyre recorded Ellen McInearney living at 61 Hall Street with her husband, their two children, and two boarders. Her birthplace was noted as Old Monkland Parish and her age as 51 years. ⁵

Helen married Michael McENARNEY, son of Patrick McNERNEY and Catherine McCONVILL, on 26 November 1866 in Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, Scotland.¹ (Michael McENARNEY was born about 1839 in Ireland ⁷ and died 17 October 1914 at 7.45 am in 12 Hall Street, Blantyre, Lanarkshire, Scotland.). The cause of his death was arteriosclerosis, myocarditis and cardiac failure.

  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The celebrant was Father Michael O'Keeffe CC. The witnesses were Neil Mullen and Anne Moore.

Michael, the groom, was a bachelor aged 27 years, from Coatdyke in the parish of Old Monkland. He was a coalminer.

The bride, Helen, was 17 years old, unmarried, and she worked and a factory hand. She too was 'of Coatdyke'.

The marriage was registered in Coatbridge in the parish of Old Monkland on 29 November 1866, the registrar being James Burdon. ¹
