  General Notes:

Elizabeth was a baby of 2 months when she was recorded living with her family in Blantyre by the 1881 census.

Elizabeth was recorded as aged 10 years in the 1891 census. She was a scholar and had been born in Blantyre.

In 1917, Elizabeth's death certificate recorded her as 'Elizabeth O'Brien, married to James O'Brien coal miner'; she was aged 36 years. Both of her parents were deceased by then.

  Medical Notes:

The cause of death was certified by M. J. Harkin MB ChB.

James O'Brien, widower, who had been present where his wife's death occurred, gave notice of Elizabeth's death before James Brown, registrar, at Blantyre, on 1 June 1917.


Elizabeth married James O'BRIEN, son of Peter O'BRIEN and Helen McPAKE, on 30 November 1900 in St Joseph's RC Chapel, Blantyre, Lanarkshire, Scotland. (James O'BRIEN was born in 1877 and died after 1 June 1917.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. Father Thomas Hackett was the presiding priest. The witnesses were John Campbell and Annie Burns.

James O'Brien lived at 90 Albert Buildings, Earnock, Hamilton. He was a coal miner by occupation. He was recorded as aged 22 years and was unmarried.

Lizzie McEnearney was a farm servant. She lived at 61 Hall Street Blantyre. She was unmarried and aged 19 years.

The marriage was registered on 4 December 1900 at Blantyre, Hugh MacMillan being the signing registrar.
