In 1914 James was the informant of his father in law, Michael's death at Blantyre. James gave his address on that occasion as 32 Hall Street Blantyre.

In the death certificate of his wife, Elizabeth, in 1917, James' occupation was recorded as that of coal miner.


James married Elizabeth McENARNEY, daughter of Michael McENARNEY and Helen MANN, on 30 November 1900 in St Joseph's RC Chapel, Blantyre, Lanarkshire, Scotland. (Elizabeth McENARNEY was born in 1880 in Blantyre, Lanarkshire, Scotland and died 1 June 1917 at 8.50 am in 32 Hall Street, Blantyre, Lanarkshire, Scotland.). The cause of her death was carcinoma of the stomach.


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. Father Thomas Hackett was the presiding priest. The witnesses were John Campbell and Annie Burns.

James O'Brien lived at 90 Albert Buildings, Earnock, Hamilton. He was a coal miner by occupation. He was recorded as aged 22 years and was unmarried.

Lizzie McEnearney was a farm servant. She lived at 61 Hall Street Blantyre. She was unmarried and aged 19 years.

The marriage was registered on 4 December 1900 at Blantyre, Hugh MacMillan being the signing registrar.
