In 1861 Thomas Cumming headed a household of six people living at 27 Thread Street. As well as himself and his wife, the census recorded Thomas as having three children of his own and one adopted daughter. Helen Cumming was the youngest Cumming child listed in the entry. Born in Paisley, she was just 3 years old.
