Other names for Cornelius were CAIRNEY, Cornelius and KARNEY, Cornelius.1 4 General Notes: The 1841 census recorded Conelius Cairney [sic] living at Bridge Lane in the Abbey parish district of Paisley. With him lived Helen Cairney, probably his daughter. Conelius was a cotton handloom weaver, aged in the 35-39 years age group, and was Irish born. He lived with, and the 1841 census does not state in what capacity, Duncan McLean and Martha McLean. Cornelius married Mary QUIGLY, daughter of Peter QUIGLY and Mary LOGAN, on 19 December 1823 in Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland.1 (Mary QUIGLY was born about 1789 in Ireland.) Marriage Notes: The Old Parish Marriage Register of High Church Parish Paisley records in Proclamations under 'Karney' for the 30 November 1823 (a Sunday). 'Cornelius Karney and Mary Quigly both in this parish'. |
