The 1850 US Federal Census for Steubenville City, Jefferson County, Ohio, recorded a weaver called William Quigley aged 48 years and born in Scotland. With him lived his wife Mary, and three daughters, Catherine, Mary and Ellen. The youngest daughter Ellen Quigley was recorded as 4 years old and born in Pennsylvania USA.
In 1860 the US Federal Census recorded William Quigley and family. They were listed among the free inhabitants of Ridley Township in the County of Delaware, Pennsylvania. 'Wm Quigley', his wife Mary and their two daughters, Mary and Ellen, were recorded living in Leiperville Post Office District. William was aged 57 years and had been born in Scotland. He was a weaver. His youngest daughter Ellen was aged 14 years and had been born in the US, in Pennsylvania.
The 1870 US Federal Census for the 90th Census District in the County of Philadelphia, in the State of Pennsylvania, recorded Mary Quigley, Ellen McCloskey, and Ellen Quigley, living together in an all-female household. Ellen Quigley was aged 23 years and had been born in Pennsylvania.
