The 1850 US Federal Census for Steubenville City, Jefferson County, Ohio, recorded a weaver called William Quigley aged 48 years and born in Scotland. With him lived his wife Mary, and three daughters, Catherine, Mary and Ellen. The middle daughter Mary Quigley was recorded as 12 years old and born in Scotland.
In 1860 the 1860 US Federal Census recorded William Quigley and family. They were listed among the free inhabitants of Ridley Township in the County of Delaware, Pennsylvania. 'Wm Quigley', his wife Mary and their two daughters, Mary and Ellen, were recorded living in Leiperville Post Office District. William was aged 57 years and had been born in Scotland. He was a weaver. His daughter Mary who was recorded as 22 years of age was a weaver too. She had been born in Scotland.
