  General Notes:

In his son's death certificate this man's name was given as Patrick Downie (see Patrick Downie notes). This may be the correct form or it may be erroneous. His daughter, Agnes, gave her father's name as Edward.

His son, Patrick's death certificate in 1859 recorded him as then deceased and as having been a customer weaver.

When his son Edward died in 1868 no occupation was recorded for his father, only his name, and the fact that he was deceased.

Agnes Downie's death certificate in 1875 recorded her deceased father as 'Edward Downie ploughman'. The informant was his granddaughter Agnes Quigley. 4 5 6


Edward married Agnes DRIPPS. (Agnes DRIPPS was born about 1770.)
