   Cause of her death was cerebral haemorrhage lasting 1 day.

  General Notes:

Agnes was recorded by the 1851 census living with her brother and her mother in Glasgow. She was 5 years old.

In her mother's parish application of 1853 Agnes' place of birth was also called 'Mile End, Calton'.

In 1858 Agnes was 12 years of age and the Poor Relief application says she was an 'embroiderer idle 14 weeks'. The family then lived at 1 Wellmeadow Street Paisley.

Agnes, who had been present where the death occurred, was the informant of her mother's death in Paisley in November 1875.

Agnes died in 1914 at the recorded age of 59 years. Her death certificate recorded her as 'Agnes McGhie married to William McGhie builder'. Both of her parents were already dead.

R. S. Penman MB certified the cause of death.

William McGhie, widower, who had been present where the death occurred, reported his wife's death to the registrar, Hugh Allison, at Paisley on 2 February 1914. 2


Agnes married William McGHIE, son of Hugh McGHIE and Margaret McILHANEY, on 20 December 1887 in St Mirin's RC Chapel, Paisley, Renfrewshire, Scotland.1 (William McGHIE was born about 1844 1 and died after 30 January 1914.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the forms of the Roman Catholic Church. Hugh Chisholm, Catholic Clergyman, married the couple. The witnesses were Thomas and Susan Scollan.

William McGhie was, by occupation, a mason. he was 39 years old and a widower, and resident at 7 Neilston Road Paisley. His father was deceased.

Agnes Quigley was a sewing machinist. She was single and aged 40 years. Her address was 2 Garthland Lane Paisley. Her father was deceased.

The marriage was registered on 23 December 1887 at Paisley. 1
