The 1901 census for Hamilton, Lanarkshire, recorded Jeanie Tweedley as aged 10 years and her birthplace as Hamilton. She was a scholar.

The UK census of 1911 recorded Jeanie Tweedley living in her father's household. She was recorded as a single woman, and her husband Matthew Scott also lived there but was recorded as a boarder! Jeanie had been born in Hamilton and was 20 years old. No occupation was noted for her.

In 1920 the U.S.Census for Philadelphia in the state of Pennsylvania recorded Jeanie Scot living with her husband and son, and her parents and sister newly arrived from Scotland. She was 29 years of age and had been born in Scotland. The year of her immigration was noted as 1919, and she was still of alien status. No occupation was noted.

Matthew and Jennie T. Scott, aged 46 and 39 years respectively, their son Archibald, aged 11 years, and Jennie's mother Agnes Tweedley, aged 65 years, were recorded by the 1930 US census living at 217 Savoy Avenue in Springfield, Massachusetts. All were recorded as born in Scotland and of entirely Scottish parentage. Matthew was an assembler in a gas tank factory. Jennie was an inspector in a magnets manufacturing business.

The US census of 1940 recorded Matthew and Jeannie Scott, aged 56 and 49 years respectively, living at the same address as in 1930, in a house they owned. They had their first papers to apply for citizenship. With them lived their son Archie Scott, by then 21 years old and an assembler like his father, and a nephew and a niece surnamed Ruddock, Agnes, aged 16 years, and James, aged 11 years.
