Samuel tweedley and his wife Agnes with their threes daughters lived at 97b Airbles Road Motherwell in 1911. Living with them and recorded as a boarder was their son in law Matthew Scott, a Glasgow born 27 year old man who worked as an irondriller in a waggon builder company.

Mathew Scot was the head of a household that was the nearest neighbour to James and Isabelle Tweedley, according to the 1920 U.S.Census for Philadelphia. He and his wife Jeanie Scot, and their son Archabold [sic], lived in the same household as Mathew's in-laws: Samuel and Augnes [sic] Tweedley and their daughter Sara, at 6351 Buist Avenue. The census recorded that Mathew Scot, like his brother in law James, rented his home. He was 36 years old and had immigrated to the U.S. in 1912 and was naturalised in 1919. he was Scots born, as were his parents, and English was their mother tongue. He worked in the Air Brake Co.as did James.

The 1940 US Census for Springfield Massachusetts recorded Matthew Scott as head of a a household living at 207 Savoy Avenue. He was 56 years old and had been born in Scotland. He worked as an assembler in an oil burner family. With him lived his wife Jeannie, his son Archie and a niece and a nephew Agnes and James Ruddock. ^{2 3 4}

Matthew married Jeanie Harkness TWEEDLEY, daughter of Samuel QUIGLEY (DNA Link) and Agnes RAIT, on 7 October 1910 in Motherwell, Lanarkshire, Scotland.
