   Cause of her death was unknown and of 1 day's duration.3

   Other names for Agnes were COLLINS, Margaret,6 HENDRY, Agnes,3 HENRIE, Margaret,6 HENRY, Margaret,2 McFADDIN, Agnes,5 McFADGEAN, Agnes 1 4 and McFADYEN, Margaret.7

  General Notes:

Agnes was not included in the family entry in the 1841 census for Muirkirk. However an Agnes McFadzyen was listed in the household of James Dalgleish farmer at Auchingibbert, Old Cumnock, Ayrshire. Agnes was recorded as 11 years old and born in Ayrshire. She worked as a female servant.

Agnes McFadgean was living in her family home when the 1851 census for Burnfoot, Lesmahagow was taken. She was aged 22 years and born in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire. No occupation for her was noted.

Agnes Hendry died in 1859. Her death certificate recorded her as 'married, wife of a coalminer' and as aged 31 years. Her parents were noted as still alive.

'Margaret Henry' was recorded as deceased in 1871 when her daughter Mary married. Her given name was recorded as Margaret, but the IGI shows it as Agnes, and indeed Mary's first daughter was named Agnes. 1 3 4 5 7

  Medical Notes:

Peter Frank MD, who saw the deceased on April 27 1859, certified the death.

Michael Hendry, husband of the deceased who was present, gave notice of his wife's death before the registrar, Duncan Campbell, at Lesmahagow on 30 April 1859 and made his X mark.

Alex Brown, sexton, certified that Agnes was buried in the Graveyard of Lesmahagow. 3


Agnes married Michael HENRY, son of James HENRY and Unity JAMIESON, on 20 February 1852 in Lesmahagow, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Michael HENRY was born in 1826 in Ireland 8 9.)
