The 1851 census for Clarkston in New Monkland parish, Lanarkshire, recorded a family of Rice (variation of Rocks) lodging with a family of McElroys at 5 Clark Land Edinburgh Road. Patrick Rice was aged 40 years and worked as a rail labourer. His birth place was Armagh, Ireland.

Catherine Roaks' death certificate of 1872 recorded her as the widow of 'Peter Roaks Road Labourer'. ^{4 5}

Patrick and Peter are often interchangeable in Irish and Scottish culture.

Peter married Catherine VALLELY, daughter of VALLELY and Margaret BRYNES. (Catherine VALLELY was born about 1811 in County Armagh, Ireland ^{3 4 5 6} and died 27 July 1872 at 6.15 am in Cannonside (?) Street, Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland ⁵.). The cause of her death was general debility over months.

Peter next married William McGUNNIGAL, son of William McGUNNIGAL and Dorothea DRUMMOND.^{1 2} (William McGUNNIGAL was born about 1835 in Ireland ⁷ and died 28 October 1906 at 10.20 am in 44 Castlehill Feus, Cambusnethan parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland ^{8 9}.). The cause of his death was heart failure following injury to hip 10 weeks before.

"IV. Alexander (Forbes) had sasine from Alexander, Lord Elphinstone, as heir to his father, December 12nd 1616; and another sasine of Miltown of Towie, December 16th 1633. He married Janet Robertson of Lude and had two sons and three daughters: William his heir; John, who married his cousin Isabel and acquired Newlands; Isabel married William Forbes of Skellater; ----- married Gordon of Blelack; ----- married Donald Cattanach of Toldaquhill."
