  General Notes:

The 1851 census for Clarkston in the parish of New Monkland recorded a 'Mary Rice' aged 7 years lodging in a McElroy family at 5 Clark Land, Edinburgh Road. Mary was born in County Armagh, Ireland, and her parents were recorded as Patrick and Cathrine Rice. ³

Mary married Bridget ROCKS, daughter of Peter ROCKS and Catherine VALLELY.^{1 2} (Bridget ROCKS was born about 1842 in County Armagh, Ireland ⁴.)
