  General Notes:

Edward Vallily was aged 3 years when recorded by the 1851 census living in Kilmarnock Ayrshire, where he had been born, with his parents and older brother Francis.

In 1861 Edward Valliley was recorded as 13 years of age. He had been born in Kilmarnock and was a scholar.

In 1881 the census for Hutchesontown Glasgow recorded Edward Valelly aged 32 years as head of a household consisting of himself his wife and their four children. He was a fish curer by occupation and had been born in Kilmarnock.

In 1891 the census recorded an Edward Vallely aged 42 years and born in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire living in the household of which a woman shopkeeper called Christina McCulloch was head at 85 North Woodside Road Glasgow. Edward Vallely was recorded as a visitor and his occupation as builder. A restaurant keeper called Elizabeth McCulloch, aged 31 years also was a visitor, and there were two daughters of Christina McCulloch, Maggie aged 16 years and Christina aged 8 years. This was probably Margaret Main McCulloch born in 1874 in Lanark - Christina McCulloch being her mother, and without her father's name included on the birth certificate.

The 1901 census for Bridgeton Glasgow recorded Edward Vallely as head of a household living at 543 Dalmarnock Road Glasgow. The household consisted of himself aged 52 years, his wife Jessie Vallely aged 23 years, a son John Glen aged 27 years, and a daughter and a son, aged 3 years and 3 months respectively. Edward had been born in Kilmarnock Ayrshire. he worked as a Lath Splitter Driver.

When Edward Vallely died in 1912 his death certificate recorded him as a master cabinet maker married to Mary Ann Hill. His recorded age at death was 64 years. Both of his parents were deceased. His mother's maiden name was recorded as Maggie Wilson. 1 4 7 8 9 10

The cause of death was certified by Robert Greenhill MB CM.

The informant was Jessie Aron, housekeeper, who gave notice before the registrar, A. Sutherland, on 20 December 1912 at Glasgow. 6


Edward married Mary Ann HILL on 22 Oct 1868 in Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland.1 (Mary Ann HILL was born about 1851 in England 7 and died after 13 Nov 1912 6.)


Edward next married Mary Ann VALLELY, daughter of Edward Patrick VALLELY and Mary Ann HILL, on 15 Jan 1705 in Saint Nicholas Parish, Aberdeen, Scotland.2 3 (Mary Ann VALLELY was born on 5 Jun 1872 in Tradeston, Glasgow, Scotland 1.)

Edward next married Michael McNEARN, son of Robert McINAIRNEY and Susan MURPHY, in Aug 1735.2 (Michael McNEARN was born 2 August 1857 at 9pm in Calderbank, Old Monkland, Lanarkshire, Scotland.)
