The 1881 census for Barony parish, Glasgow, recorded Mary Tweedlie living with her family at 763 Duke Street. Her age was recorded then as 16 years and her birthplace as Glasgow. She was a machinist by occupation.

Mary's mother applied for parish relief in 1886. Mary was then 21 years old. She had been born in Coalhill Street, and was married to William Morton, a labourer. They had one child. They lived at 5 Society Street. ^{1 2}

Mary married William MORTON. (William MORTON was born about 1860.)
