The 1851 census for Kirkliston in West Lothian recorded James Taylor living in Kirkliston Village with his parents. He was 11 months old and had been born in Kirkliston.

In 1861 James Taylor was recorded living at 147 Cowgate in Edinburgh Old Greyfriars parish in the registration District of St Giles, according to the census of that year. He was a scholar and was 11 years of age. He had been born in Kirklist

James Taylor was living with his parents, his younger sister and one lodger at 147 Cowgate Edinburgh in 1871 according to the census of that year. His age was recorded as 22 years and his birthplace as Linlithgow. He worked as a cooper.

James Taylor, John's son, gave notice of his father's death before the registrar, Dan Beatson, at Edinburgh on 28 September 1874.

James Taylor, of 4 Prince Albert Buildings, was the informant of his mother Catherine's death. He gave notice of her death before the registrar, Thomas Temple, at Edinburgh on 28 January 1895. 1 3 4 5 6
