Alexander married Elizabeth LYON, daughter of Patrick LYON 3rd Earl of Strathmore and Kinghorne and Helen MIDDLETON, after 1715.1 (Elizabeth LYON was born about 1680 and died in January 1739 1.)

Alexander next married Margaret FARQUHARSON, daughter of Peter FARQUHARSON 4th of Inverey, Jacobite 1715 and Elizabeth BLACK, in December 1739.2 3 4 (Margaret FARQUHARSON was born about 1717 2 and died on 3 April 1753 in Grantsfield, Aberdeenshire, Scotland 2.)

"Captain Alexander Grant of Grantsfield, mentioned in 1710 as brother-german to Ludovick Grant of Knockando. In 1727 he obtained a charter of resignation of the lands and barony of Ballogie, now Grantsfield, in the county of Aberdeen. There is a portrait of him at Castle Grant. He died on 28th April 1776. He married, in December 1739, Margaret, daughter of P. Farquharson of Inverey. She died at Grantsfield on 3d April 1753."
