"In a discharge, dated March 1654, to his eldest brother, James Grant of Freuchie, he styles himself fifth lawful surviving son to the deceased Sir John Grant of Freuchie. He is designed 'of Duthel' in 1663, also 'of Gellovey' in 1667. He obtained, on 11th June 1667, from David Cumming of Kinchirdie, a disposition of the lands of Kinchirdie, and also of Avielochan and Delnahaitnich. He was for some time factor and chamberlain to nephew, Ludovick Grant of Freuchie...His testament is dated at Kinchirdie, 28th December 1679.'
