General Notes: "WIilliam Sinclair of Newburgh, commonly known as 'The Waster,' was the eldest son of the said William, Earl of Caithness, by his first marriage with Elizabeth Douglas, daughter of Archibald, fourth Earl of Douglas. He was disinherited by his father, who, on 7 December 1476, resigned his lands of the earldom of Caithness in the hands of the King, from whom he obtained a new grant with remainder to William, the eldest son of his second marriage." William married Christian LESLIE, daughter of George LESLIE Earl of Rothes and Margaret LUNDY, about 29 April 1458.1 (Christian LESLIE was born about 1438 and died After 22 February 1492(1493) 1.) Marriage Notes: "He (William Sinclair) married (dispensation dated 29 April 1458) Christian Leslie, daughter of George, Earl of Rothes, who survived him, and was alive 22 February 1492-93."
