"Alexander Chalmers, born about 1680 (see Note below), son of George C., min. of Botriphnie; educated at Marischal College, Aberdeen; M.A. (1700); licen. by Presb. of Dalkeith; pres. by Henrietta, Duchess of Gordon, before 18th Sept. 1734; ord. 19th March 1735; died (after a long illness) 7th April 1756. He marr. 22nd June 1738, Anne (died 27th July 1786), daugh. of Walter Sime, min. of this parish, and had issue Margaret, born 7th Jan. 1741; Anne, born 26th July 1743 (marr. - - Thomson) ; George, M.A., surgeon -apothecary, London, born 25th Sept. 1744, died March 1769; Walter, born 2nd Dec. 1745."

1680 appears to be a typographical error for 1690, though it makes the MA year problematic. The Alexander Chalmers found in the list of graduates seem too young to be this man. 1
