General Notes: "He died in July 1620, and was buried by permission of the Cummings in the chapel of St. Catherine's Isle Simon married Jean MONCRIEFF, daughter of Sir John MONCREIFF of that Ilk, 1st Baronet and Mary MURRAY, by 20 December 1616.1 (Jean MONCRIEFF was born about 1601.) Marriage Notes: "On 20 December 1616 the lands of Inverallochy were erected into a barony and granted to Simon, Lord Lovat and Jean Stewart, his spouse, in liferent, and to Simon Fraser, their eldest lawful son, and Jean Moncrieff, his spouse, in fee, and their heirs, whom failing, to James Fraser (of Brea), etc. He received the honour of knighthood, it is said at the age of nineteen, by the King at Holyrood." |
