Jean married Sir Simon FRASER of Inverallochy, son of Simon FRASER 6th Lord Fraser of Lovat, Sheriff of Inverness and Jean STEWART, by 20 December 1616.1 (Sir Simon FRASER of Inverallochy was born about 1598, died in July 1620 1 and was buried in St Catherine's Church, Inverness, Scotland 1.)


  Marriage Notes:

"On 20 December 1616 the lands of Inverallochy were erected into a barony and granted to Simon, Lord Lovat and Jean Stewart, his spouse, in liferent, and to Simon Fraser, their eldest lawful son, and Jean Moncrieff, his spouse, in fee, and their heirs, whom failing, to James Fraser (of Brea), etc. He received the honour of knighthood, it is said at the age of nineteen, by the King at Holyrood."

Jean next married Sir Thomas BURNET 13th of Leys, Baronet, son of Alexander BURNET 12th of Leys and Katherine GORDON, 9 August 1621(contract).1 2 (Sir Thomas BURNET 13th of Leys, Baronet was born about 1583 and died in 1653.)


  Marriage Notes:

"(Sir Simon Fraser of Inverallochy) married in 1616 Jean, daughter of Sir John Moncrieff .... She was married, secondly (contract 9 August 1621), as his second wife, to Sir Thomas Burnett of Leys."

"At Muchalls the same appear with supporters - a man in a lowland hunting garb and a greyhound - in plaster, being the arms of Sir Thomas Burnett, who finished Muchalls in 1627. On a stone brought from Muchalls, and now at Crathes, the same arms appear impaled with those of Moncrieff of Moncrieff, and with the same supporters. Sir Thomas Burnett, 1st Baronet, married, as his second wife, Jean, daughter of Sir John Moncrieff of that ilk, in 1621."
