SETON, William Master of Seton, Sir
(About 1390-1424) |
SETON, William Master of Seton, Sir 1User ID: Y893. William married Janet DUNBAR, daughter of George DUNBAR 11th (and last) Earl of Dunbar and Beatrix.1 (Janet DUNBAR was born about 1397.) Marriage Notes: "(footnote) 3 Another daughter (of George Dunbar, 11th Earl), Janet, who is not named either in the safe-conduct or in the above writ, is said to have married Sir John Seton. It was not he but his son William who married a Janet, though the evidence for her being a Dunbar is not conclusive. A discharge, 3 March 1413-14, by George Dunbar, son and heir of the Earl, to Sir John Seton, for 300 Scots, tocher of his sister Jonet, is referred to in the Family of Seton, ii. ; Exch. Rolls, iv. 602. The form of the discharge suggests that a Dunbar was marrying a Seton." (page 275) |
