User ID: Z278. General Notes: "SIR EDWARD DE KEITH succeeded his brother Sir Robert upon the latter's death at the battle of Durham in October 1346. In the year 1328 he held the office of Sheriff of Selkirk. In an inquisition, held at Aberdeen, dated 1341, before Robert de Keth, Great Marischal of Scotland, his name appears as one of the jurors. He died before 1351." Edward married Isabella SINTON heiress of Sinton before July 1305.1 2 (Isabella SINTON heiress of Sinton was born about 1292.) Marriage Notes: "He married, first, before July 1305, Isabella Sinton, heiress of Sinton, with whom he acquired the lands of Sinton, and secondly, Christian, eldest daughter of Sir John Menteith, Lord of Arran, and Ellen of Mar." Edward next married Christian MENTEITH heiress of the Earldom of Mar, daughter of Sir John MENTEITH Lord of Arran, Skipnish, Knapdale, and Strathgartney and Elyne or Ellen of Mar, by 1343.1 3 (Christian MENTEITH heiress of the Earldom of Mar was born about 1324 and died about 1387 4.) Marriage Notes: "She (Ellen of Mar) also had a daughter Christian, married, first, to Sir Edward Keith of Synton, and secondly, some time after his death in 1350, to Sir Robert Erskine of that Ilk, with issue."
