In 1841 the census for Clatt Parish recorded a household of four girls and women living at Mains of Tillyangus: Christian Home, aged 55 years, Mary Home, aged 8 years, Mary Grant, aged 80 years, and Mary Anderson, aged 7 years. Christian was described as 'independent', that is of independent means. Mary Grant was described as a 'pauper', that is having no earned or unearned income. Three women were born in Aberdeenshire; Mary Grant was born outside of it.

Note: The Mary Grant of the 1841 census is at least a candidate to be the this Mary Grant. She is about the right age, and this Mary and Christian Home both had associations with Glenbucket and Towie, and with the Dingwall family. 1 2
