"From John of Glasleter, of that ilk, Alexander Strachan of Carmyllie received, in 1365, a disposition of his lands of Awchinlar."

"During the reign of Robert III. (1390-1406), Alexander Strachan of Carmyllie received a royal charter of 'ane annual out of the lands of Inglistoun, Brigtoun, and Kinnetlis' (Robertson's Index, 149, 40).
