"David Lindsay began his political career on 31 August 1380, in his father's castle of Finavon, where he witnessed a grant his father had made to Alexander Strachan of Carmyllie, and his wife, Christiana daughter of David 'de Anandia', of lands in Alexander's barony of 'Onele', probably Kincardine O'Neill, in Aberdeenshire.[5Aberdeen-Banff Illustrations, ii, 43-4.]"
