General Notes: 'John Gordon of Nethermuir was the son of Patrick Gordon, and served heir of his brother Patrick ("junioris de Nethermuir') on March 24, 1683.' 1 Noted events in his life were: 1. Honorary Burgess, 23 October 1682, Aberdeen. 1 2. Commissioner of Supply: thrice, Between 1685 and 1690, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. 1 3. Sasine, 1692-1701, Old Maud and Nethermuir. 1 4. Poll Tax Commissioner: with Alexander Forbes, 1696, Auchreddie. 1 5. Will signed and confirmed, 1724-1725. 1 John married Elizabeth GORDON, daughter of John GORDON 4th of Rothiemay and Elizabeth BARCLAY heiress to Towie.1 (Elizabeth GORDON was born about 1674 and died in 1699 4.) Marriage Notes: "John Gordon married, before 1696, Elizabeth Gordon ('Poll Book,' ii., 10). She must be the daughter of James Gordon of Rothiemay, who, according to the Balbithan John next married Mary CUMMING in 1700.1 (Mary CUMMING was born about 1665.) Marriage Notes: "She (Elizabeth Gordon) is said to have died in 1699, and her husband appears to have married Mary Cumming as his second wife in 1700 ('Name of Dingwall Fordyce,' 1885, p. 154)."
