In 1558 'Johane Calder of Aslowne' was one of the witnesses to a document recording the marriage of John Master of Forbes, later 8th Lord Forbes, and Margaret Gordon, daughter of the Earl of Huntly.

John married Elizabeth FORBES, daughter of Alexander FORBES 3rd of Towie and Janet GORDON.¹ (Elizabeth FORBES was born about 1513 ³.)

"Alex. Forbes of Towie married Janet Gordon, daughter to Patrick Gordon of Haddo, who did bear to him John Forbes of Towie, Alex, and Wm. Forbesses, and Duncan Forbes in Findlost, James Forbes in Tonley, and Pat. Forbes, with Katharine, who was married on George Gordon of Lesmoir, and Elizabeth, who was married on John Calwill (ie Caddle or Calder) of Asloune..."
