  Research Notes:

ASLOUN AND ASWANLEY

Of the two Aswanley seems to have come into the possession of the Calders (also Cawdor and Caddell) before Asloun.

Aswanley is in the area of Aberdeenshire generally associated and belonging to the many Gordon families. It is situated east of Haugh of Glass. It was linked to the Calder family from 1440. Aswanley House dates from the 17th century.

Asloun is south of Huntly in Aberdeenshire, west of the town of Alford and south east from Kildrummy. 'John Cowdell de Asslowne' appears in a charter of the Great Seal in 1563. Later it passed to the family of Forbes.

Alexander married.
