General Notes: "Arthur Forbes of Putachie, also styled of Balfour, called 'Black Arthur,' killed at the battle of Tullieangus Research Notes: THANKS Arthur married Elizabeth INNES 'Lady of Dunbeath', daughter of Alexander INNES 13th of that Ilk and Cristina DUNBAR, by May 1554.1 (Elizabeth INNES 'Lady of Dunbeath' was born about 1516.) Marriage Notes: "Letters of bailiary by Elizabeth Innes, lady of Dunbeitht (Dunbeath), and Arthur Forbes of Balfour, her spouse, appointing George, Earl and Catnes (Caithness), their bailie of the lands of Ray, Sandside and S[...]re with the mains of Dunbe, within the bounds of Caithness. Dated at Bafour. Arthur next married Christina BARCLAY after 19 May 1554.1 (Christina BARCLAY was born about 1510.) Marriage Notes: "Abstract of a charter by George, Earl of Huntlie [Huntly] etc, chancellor of Scotland, to Arthur Forbes of Balfour and Christine Barclay, his spouse, of the lands of Puttachie [Putachie] and half of the town and lands of Meikle Kegge [Keig] (or Auchterkegge), dated 13 January 1560." |
